The farm beside the redoubts

Skansegaarden, also written Skansegården, is at Grønnekærvej 1. The local parish history describes a farm associated with Sandbjerg and records its burning on 16 March 1864 after shelling from Gammelmark on Broagerland. Proximity to the redoubts made the war part of residents’ daily lives. [S55]

Family, land and the state

The historical account describes later ownership changes, state acquisition of redoubt land and the Struck family. It records Jørgen Chr. Struck selling the farm to the state in 1962. These are historical statements from the book’s period, not a statement about who owns it today. [S55]

Recent records and stories

In 2020, the proposal to replace the old farmhouse with a new home was considered politically. SønderborgNYT interviewed Peter Hansen of Venstre and Mayor Erik Lauritzen around the council meeting in May. [S56]
