Is the History Centre open?

Not for regular visits between 7 September 2026 and 31 May 2027. Guided tours and school programmes can be arranged separately. Reopening is planned for 1 June 2027. [S04]

Is the mill closed too?

The mill has its own season and is listed as open until 31 October in 2026. Check individual days and hours with the operator. [S46]

Can I walk around without a museum ticket?

Public paths and outdoor historic places can be visited separately from paid exhibitions. Follow access rules, signs and temporary closures. Landscape protection does not grant unrestricted access to every private property. [S30] [S45]

Where are parking and toilets?

Naturstyrelsen describes parking near the mill, centre and bridgehead, with toilets opposite the mill. Check availability on the day. Use Rejseplanen for current bus connections. [S30]

Is it suitable for a wheelchair or pushchair?

Some central connections are paved. Grass, steep slopes and coastal paths have different conditions. Plan a specific route and ask exhibitions about access and levels; the entire area is not step-free. [S30] [S46]

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs must be kept on leads in the described nature areas and on Gendarmstien according to local rules. Ask the mill and centre separately about access indoors. [S30] [S41]

Does Gendarmstien pass the mill?

The main route follows the coast. On the Strand stage, a detour at Redoubt I leads towards the mill and centre. The whole trail is 84 km; the local stage is 19.2 km. [S02] [S03]

Can I cycle the whole Gendarmstien?

Do not plan it as a continuous cycle route. Rules differ between sections and some private paths prohibit cycling. Follow official access rules and signs. [S41] [S45]

Is Dybbøl Banke a national park?

The name "Nationalparken Dybbøl Skanser" has historical usage. Dybbøl is not one of the modern national parks under the National Parks Act. The central landscape protection order dates to 1987. [S09] [S39] [S01]
